Speak!

Speak! is a lively piece that employs a host of interesting instruments. Some, like the “Mini Crash Cymbals” and the “Jingle Stick” are traditional classroom instruments. Speak! is more advanced in terms of its syncopated accents and rhythms, namely 1/8th rests, single 1/8th notes and ¼ note triplets. There are also ample one measure repeat signs. Tom-toms and snare are in unison until letter B, where they exchange solos. The auxiliary percussion instruments add color and rhythmic variety and become more prominent from letter C to the D.S. Speak! starts and ends forte with softer passages occurring from B to the D.S.
